Enhancing student literacy is a school-wide initiative across all grade levels. To promote reading for entertainment, both inside and outside of the classroom, students are required to read and respond to one book per month. Monthly themes are assigned which coincide with our Writer's Workshop themes. Personal Narrative, Mystery, Historical Fiction, and Biography are just a few of the themes addressed.
Learning Spanish in grades Kindergarten through 8 offers the students an opportunity to experience the exciting adventure of learning a new language, within a creative and nurturing environment. Although many students “speak” Spanish, the ability to read, write and fully communicate in Spanish gives them the foundation to embrace many languages in the future. The program is designed to be not only subject-centered but also child-oriented as well. To implement a Second Language Program and introduce it at such an early age has great benefits: learning vocabulary, reading, writing, proper grammar and phrasing becomes “second nature” to them.
Students at Guardian Angel have access to a variety of online programs used both at home and in school. These programs are integrated into the curriculum and closely monitored by our teachers.

They are introduced to the elements of art, the themes of composition and the narratives of the stories told in the paintings. Through lively in-class discussions, students exchange ideas about the feeling, mood and impressions the artist originally intended to convey.
